Women’s health is a globally neglected area, although they are living longer on average, they have fewer quality years and spend more years in bad health. Only 2% of the total research and development budget is invested in women’s health. Many contemporary drugs have not been tested on women (only since 1993) leading to severe side effects and lack of efficacy.

Everything that is important to know, but no one told us about menopause such as the vicious circle of hormones and hormone therapy. Menopause severely impacts life expectancy. Even though over one billion women will experience menopause by 2025, only a few effective treatments exist. In addition to debilitating symptoms, there is an increased risk of numerous conditions, including osteoporosis, dementia, depression, heart disease, and, as recently shown, Alzheimer’s Disease. Important themes when it comes to reproductive health are in vitro fertilization and treatment of sterility and infertility causes and treatments.

There are more than 100 different types of autoimmune diseases which increase drastically in recent years and affect mostly women of reproductive age (78%). For most of them, there are no adequate cures. The causes of diseases are mostly unknown and there is not enough investment in finding solutions.

Women bear a lot on their minds, caring for most of the home jobs. Therefore, their mental and physical health is affected especially after menopause, which women today enter on average at the age of 45, when they are at the peak of their careers. Special pressure was on women during the pandemic, thus mental health should not be neglected area.
